Reinventing Project Based Learning

I just received my new copy of Reinventing Project-Based Learning: Your Field Guide to Real-World Projects in the Digitl Age by Suzie Bls and Jane Krauss purachased through my ISTE membership. I am alreay using many kinds of technology-connected projects in my classroom and have been for several years but with the new Web 2.0 technologies, one must keep current and stay on the cutting edge. It will be a slow read through the rest of the school year but this summer I will really get into a real groove of planning new projects; especially after attending the NECC conference in San Antonio.

First Web 2.0 Technology use

The first plunge has been taken into using Web 2.0 technologies and students in World Geography are doing a project using Google Maps. The beauty of the project is that now they can work on it both in the classroom and at home; that goes also for the Works Cited by using easybib.com. It is going well; students are uploading their own pictures or using internet pictures that are cited. The first project was turned in today and the quality is good. Another step has been taken along the information use highway.
